like the title says, this book has everything you need to know to build a baja bug or other off road vw based car.
It is very dated, but always a good starting point. I had owned a few Baja Bugs back in the 1980s, and just recently purchased another. This book is an excellent resource for all things off road VW.
A good starter. Is good as far as letting you know what type of modifications are needed to build a baja buggy or sand rail but does not have much in the way of detail on how to do the modifications in some areas.A good vehicle specific bentley or hayes is needed if working on a vw bug. Also could use more, larger and more detailed illustrations and photos.
But even being published in 1983, it is still relevant to many of todays racing classes. Tons of info. It would be nice to see a updated versions someday.
I highly recommend this book to anyone thinking about, already starting to, or well into any kind of off road buggy build. Although some of the products they show are dated, the concept and application are still very accurate for today's builds. I built a Baja bug with a friend many years ago using this book. Now my son is building one and it is still just as informative as it was then.
